Course Objectives The aim of this course is to teach students the basic principles of maritime law and insurance law, related legislation and case law, and to make students familiar with the problems they may have in practice by practicing their knowledge.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • The students who succeeded in this course; Will determine the main principles of Maritime Law
  • Will emphasize on the definition and types of ship, loss of quality of ship, port of registry, distinguishing features of a ship, register of ship, real rights on a ship
  • Will define and have knowledge on Charter Party, contract on Carriage of Passengers by Sea, parties involved in these contracts and their rights and obligations, termination of the contracts.
  • Will understand and evaluate the definition, types and legal aspects of Bill of Lading
Course Description Maritime Law: National and international sources of sea trade, ship, ship leasing contract, owner, owner associations, crew, freight contract, parties of freight contract, relation of freight contract with other contract types used in foreign trade law, enforcement of freight contract, bill of lading, responsibility of carrier, rights of carries, passenger carrying via sea contract, collisions at sea, average, rescue, rights of ship and load creditor.
