Course Objectives The object of this course is to provide a general approach on the basic concepts and subjects of Constitutional Law,in the light of the principle of supremacy of the constitution. Constitutions are peremptory norms and founding texts that regulate the establishment and operation of the state and secures the fundamental rights and freedoms. It's aimed to clarify the concepts of state, organs of state, forms of state, constituent power, democracy, election, governmental system, human rights and constitutional audit. These subjetcs will also be solid with case studies.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will have knowledge about basic principles of Constitutional Law.
  • Will have knowledge about state, democracy, government regimes, constituent power and elections.
  • Will have general knowledge about fundamental rights and freedoms and how to protect their constitutional rights.
  • Will apprehend the functions of the Constitution and its superiority.
  • Will have basic knowledge about constitutional jurisdiction.
Course Description In this course, the Constitution, the Constitutional Law concepts, Constitutional types, constitutional movements, Constitution Making and changing the political power and the concept of state, government forms, government systems, the concept of democracy, democracy types, elections dominant principles and electoral systems, political parties, the constitutionality control with the basic rights and freedoms will examine. Course topics related decisions of the Turkish Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights will be examined in the light of the decision, subjects will be concretized through practical work.
