Course Objectives is to gain knowledge about public law principles of Turkish Banking Law and about private law transactions made by banks
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Will discuss principles of Banking Law as a separate branch of law
  • Will explain creation, elements, functioning and termination of bank organizations
  • Will analysis the importance and functioning of Central Bank, Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency and Saving Deposit Insurance Fund within the framework of Turkish Banking regime
  • Will compare financial crimes with the other crimes.
  • Will describe accepting deposits operations of banks.
  • Will comment basic principles of banking contracts
  • Will describe international banking transactions
  • Will analyze bank credits, bank cards and credit cards
Course Description Historical background of banking law, sources of banking law, the importance and the role of central bank, legal regime of banks, their creation and operation, organs of bank, requirements for the safe operation of banks, supervision on banks, banking crimes, general features of banking contracts, notion and nature of deposit, notion of credit, credit transactions, credit contracts, payment transactions, bank card, credit card, transfer, letter of credit, purpose of letter of credit, its functioning and legal nature will be explained.
