Course Objectives The aim of this course is to introduce fundamental concepts of media law and provide concise information on general principles.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Use sources of relevant media law in relation to Turkish and EU media law
  • Elaborate on contextual issues in relation to audio visual media services (e.g. the costs to the media of defamation and privacy actions, and the need to provide programming for minority groups and cultures);
  • Effectively communicate the relevant information;
  • Undertake independent legal research in relation to Turkish and EU media law;
  • Analyze and apply the information;
  • Present reasoned legal argument in relation to issues of Turkish and EU media law.
Course Description The course covers the issues in freedom of expression and communication, legal regulations on press, radio tv broadcasting, protection of privacy and reputation, legal regulations on advertising, trademarks and copyrights
