United Nations Judicial Conduct and Ethics Self-Directed Learning Course
Here is the English translation of your text, adapted with clarity and flow in mind: --- ```html
Lack of integrity in the judiciary poses a genuine threat to confidence in the rule of law. In this context, promoting and maintaining judicial integrity is a fundamental responsibility of judges around the world. The Bangalore Principles of Judicial Conduct, a United Nations initiative, play a significant role in regulating the ethical conduct of judges and ensuring judicial integrity and its sustainability.
In order to raise awareness among students—future legal professionals—about these issues, a promotional and outreach project was planned under the framework of the “United Nations Judicial Conduct and Ethics Self-Directed Certificate Program,” which was pledged as part of the UN Doha Declaration. Within this scope, our university was selected as one of the pilot institutions, and both phases of the project were carried out at our faculty.
The UN Certificate Program was conducted online and in English. As part of the project, a Turkish booklet was introduced and methodological information was shared. The program was supported by a Turkish booklet—copyrighted by the Court of Cassation—that supplements the training. Participants who successfully completed the program and passed the online exam were awarded a United Nations certificate at the end of the project.
Participants who complete the United Nations Judicial Ethics Training Course are expected to acquire the following knowledge and skills:
- Improved ability to identify and understand ethical dilemmas and judicial conduct issues both inside and outside the workplace, along with various methods to address them.
- A basic understanding of the relationship between social media and judicial ethics.
- Awareness of various cognitive biases that may affect judicial work and reasoning skills to address these biases.
Applications for new programs are not yet open. When applications begin, announcements will be made via the faculty’s website and social media channels.
