The seventh session of the Criminal Law Days meetings, regularly organized by the Faculty of Law at İzmir University of Economics (İEÜ), where various judicial decisions are discussed, was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in lecture hall E1.

In the meeting of the Intellectual Property and Technology Law Workshop organized by the Faculty of Law at İzmir University of Economics (İEÜ) on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the topic "Algorithms and the Protection of Personal Data: Issues and Consequences" was addressed by Dr. Buket Günay ALKAN, a faculty member at İEÜ Faculty of Law, in the Board of Trustees meeting hall. The meeting was also accessible online via Zoom.

The Turkey rapporteurship for the topic titled "The rule of law – an emerging international custom?" at the 22nd General Congress of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL), which will take place in Berlin from September 28 to October 3, 2026, will be carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Esra Katıman, a faculty member of İEU Faculty of Law.

As part of her duty, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katıman will prepare a report on the assigned topic to be presented at the General Congress in Berlin.

3 institutions in Izmir have joined forces for ‘legal’ education. Under the coordination of the Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO), which is a pioneer in Turkey with its projects and collaborations, a cooperation protocol was signed between Izmir Courthouse and Izmir University of Economics (IUE). 

Prof. Dr. Sevilay Uzunallı, Dean of the Faculty of Law at İEÜ, delivered a presentation titled "Compensation Claims Due to Trademark Infringement" at the INTA Roundtable meeting on “Compensation Calculation in Lawsuits Arising from Industrial Property Rights Infringement,” organized in cooperation with the International Trademark Association (INTA) and hosted by Moroğlu Arseven Law Partnership.

The Court of Cassation, Izmir Chamber of Commerce (IZTO), and Izmir University of Economics (IUE) collaborated to organize a symposium detailing solutions to disputes between property owners and tenants. 

Prof. Dr. Muharrem Kılıç, President of Human Rights and Equality Institution of Turkey (TIHEK), shared important insights on human rights violations and penalties for discrimination as a guest lecturer for the 2024-2025 Opening Lecture at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Law.
