Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru AKDUMAN Attended the International Family Symposium
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ebru AKDUMAN, a faculty member at the IUE Faculty of Law, participated in the International Family Symposium organized by Dokuz Eylül University on April 10, 2026. She attended the event, which featured the slogan "Strong Family, Strong Future," to present her paper titled "The Golan v. Saada Decision in the Context of International Domestic Violence: Law or Conscience?".
A Meaningful Award for Our Faculty
IUE Faculty of Law faculty member Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Arslan has been deemed worthy of an award in the "Şirin Tekeli Article Competition" organized by the Foundation for the Support of Women Lawyers, with her article titled ‘Does Justice Have a Gender? The Importance of Women's Representation in the Judiciary’. We congratulate Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Arslan, who was presented with her award at the ceremony held at the Istanbul Bar Association on February 28th, and wish her continued success.
Symposium Held for the 100th Anniversary of the Turkish Civil Code
The Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Law hosted the "100th Anniversary of the Turkish Civil Code Symposium" on February 16, 2026. Prof. Dr. Sevilay Uzunallı, Dean of the IUE Faculty of Law, delivered the opening remarks at the event, which brought together academics, legal professionals, and students.
Our Student Wins Article Award
Our student, Emir Sinan Güler, has won the Honorable Mention award at the 4th Süreyya Ağaoğlu Article Competition, organized by the Süreyya Ağaoğlu Friends of Children Association.
He received this recognition for his article titled, “The Role of Laws in Preventing Domestic Violence Against Children: A Comparative Study on the Preventive and Protective Functions of the Law.”

TÜBİTAK – SOBAG Project Writing Information Meeting in the Field of Law Held
An “Information Meeting on TÜBİTAK – SOBAG Project Writing in the Field of Law” was organized for our academics who wish to gain knowledge about TÜBİTAK projects in the legal field and hear shared experiences. The meeting was held in Hall E1 between 09.00 and 12.00. The program began at 09.15 with an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Sevilay Uzunallı. Following the speech, Scientific Programs Specialist Neslihan Kara Taymaz delivered her presentation titled “ARDEB Programs and SOBAG Support Processes.” Immediately afterward, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ezgi Palas Dağlı and Asst. Prof. Dr. Pınar Öztaban shared their experiences regarding the project writing process through their presentation titled “TÜBİTAK 3005 Program Experience Sharing: Project Experience in the Field of Law.”
Panel on 'Commercialization of Intellectual Property' Held at the İzmir Chamber of Commerce
The “Commercialization of Intellectual Property Panel,” organized by the IUE Faculty of Law, was held with the hosting of the İzmir Chamber of Commerce. The panel, themed “A Journey from Innovation to Value Creation,” brought together IUE Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Sevilay Uzunallı, İzmir Chamber of Commerce Board Member Nuray Eyigele İşleyen, İzmir Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Mustafa Tanyeri, and Ankara University Chair of Property Law and Director of the Research and Application Center for Intellectual and Industrial Rights, Prof. Dr. Arzu Oğuz
The Eighth Criminal Law Days Took Place
The 8th edition of the Criminal Law Days symposium series, organized annually by the Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Law, was held this year under the theme “Paul Johann Anselm Ritter von Feuerbach: A Cornerstone in the Construction of Modern Criminal Law.”
