The “Commercialization of Intellectual Property Panel,” organized by the IUE Faculty of Law, was held with the hosting of the İzmir Chamber of Commerce. In her opening speech, IUE Faculty of Law Dean Prof. Dr. Uzunallı emphasized that intellectual and industrial property rights are no longer merely a technical field of law, but have become a strategic tool that directly influences innovation policies, competitive strength, investment decisions, and sustainable growth. Highlighting that intellectual property in the knowledge economy brings together entrepreneurs, investors, and the public, Prof. Dr. Uzunallı said, “For this reason, our Faculty approaches intellectual property law not only from a theoretical perspective but also with a practice-oriented mindset. At IUE, we consider this field as a holistic process—from the emergence of an idea to its protection, from commercialization to ensuring global sustainability.”
Prof. Dr. Uzunallı continued: “The discussions we are having here today represent an important milestone in our Faculty’s work in the field of intellectual property. We aim to further strengthen our research projects, seminar and panel series, and practice-oriented collaborations in the coming period. Our goal is to create a sustainable academic platform centered on the commercialization dimension of intellectual property law for our students and practitioners.”
Board Member of the İzmir Chamber of Commerce, Nuray Eyigele İşleyen, noted that İzmir has established a strong ecosystem for intellectual property production and commercialization through its creative industries, adding: “Our Chamber plays a central role in this ecosystem, acting as a bridge that helps transform ideas into products and projects into market-ready outcomes. Every piece of knowledge and experience shared today will contribute to the innovative capacity of our city and country.”
Following the opening remarks, in the session titled “Strategic Management of Intellectual Property and Value Creation,” Onur Kanyılmaz, Director of the Izmir University of Economics Project Development and Technology Transfer Office, delivered a presentation.
