Course Objectives The aim of this course is to evaluate the basic concepts of forensic medicine, legal regulations, common problems encountered in forensic medicine applications during the judgement process.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Explain the structure of forensic medicine in our country.
  • Define the medical, ethical and legal principles of expertise.
  • Explain the legal responsibilities of physicians.
  • Discuss child abuse, relevant national and international laws and conventions, legal regulations on forensic autopsy, postmortem methods and the Minnesota Autopsy Protocol.
  • Define the forensic medical evaluation of individuals subjected to sexual violence, identification, forensic psychiatry, wounds etc.
Course Description The course includes the stages of obtaining, preserving and analysing the evidence and findings of forensic science in the judicial process, especially in the criminal procedure phase, in accordance with legal standards.
